FDOT Construction

August 11, 2020
Dear Manager:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a Hurricane Irma repair project the week of August 17, 2020.  The project limits include various locations that extend along SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway, from Mile Marker (MM) 33.644 to MM 79.732, in Monroe County.  The project will cost an estimated $6.01 million and will take roughly thirteen months to complete.

To build this project safely, it will be necessary to implement traffic shifts and close travel lanes at times.  Construction will be done in stages, and closures will be scheduled to avoid special community events and peak periods of traffic.  Lane shifts are anticipated from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Please use caution when traveling through construction zones.

As part of our commitment to inform the public about projects that will help our community, the enclosed project fact sheet will be distributed to interested parties and residents throughout the project area.  Should you wish to learn more about other District Six transportation projects, please visit our website at www.fdotmonroe.com.

If you wish to learn more about this project, please contact Community Outreach Specialist Paulette Summers at [email protected] or by phone at (786) 510-3921.  You may also contact me directly at [email protected], or by phone at (305) 640-7437.
